Open Trade Statistics: An Independent project that values reproducible research and provides tidy trade data
Open Trade Statistics (OTS) was created with the intention to lower the barrier to working with international economic trade data.
The project started when I was affected by the fact that many Latin American Universities have limited or no access to the United Nations Commodity Trade Statistics Database (UN COMTRADE).
This week I added 2018 datasets, both the API (therefore, also the R package tradestatistics) and the dashboard feature this new data.
Other similar visualization projects cover data up to 2017. Is that important? not for long. What’s important is that this project focuses on reproducibility.
You can explore our repositories at GitHub and we did a nice effort to provide an API that is feature complete and easy to use.
